Port terminal operators and Pathfinder sister company Southampton Cargo Handling (SCH) have signed a contract with leading roll-on/roll-off shipping line Hoegh Autoliners to continue servicing its vessel calls in the Port of Southampton for a further three years.
The new contract extends a relationship that spans more than 25 years since the inception of SCH, with Oslo-based Hoegh also one of the longest-serving ro-ro customers using Southampton. The line carries a wide range of cars and heavy plant on its Southampton services as part of various routes linking Northern Europe with the Middle East, Far East, Africa and Australia.
SCH Director Kevin Hulme commented: “We celebrate 25 years of servicing Hoegh ships this year and this is a fitting way to plan for the future. We are committed to maintaining our high levels of service and look forward to working with Hoegh to support further development of their operations in Southampton.”
SCH receives cargo in the Eastern Docks for the regular Hoegh services, besides providing mooring and stevedoring operations. The latter include ship planning, discharge, loading and securing of cargo on board Hoegh ships.
SCH handles around 100 port calls a year by Hoegh vessels with load and discharge volumes totalling tens of thousands of units.
