Pathfinder Personnel Manager Keeley McConnell describes what sets Pathfinder apart in the never ending search for reliable agency personnel

Cruise itineraries are getting back into full swing; ships are filling with passengers and there’s a pent up demand for holidaymakers to make up for lost time – 2022 is already gearing up to be one of our busiest for many years.

Combine those ingredients with a reduced labour pool and the race is on to get people in place for the summer season at the various cruise ports around the UK where we operate.

At Pathfinder, we never forget that you have an increasing choice when it comes to applying for the job that suits you. That’s why we’re in the process of focusing on the things that matter to our agency personnel and trying to ensure that we’re near the top when you choose who to sign up with.

We recognise there’s plenty of choice out there and demand and supply means the labour environment is now firmly in favour of the individual. That’s why we have been working hard to set Pathfinder apart from our competitors, for example by incorporating holiday pay into our hourly wage rates.

What does that mean for you? Here’s a reminder of the Pathfinder Pledge that we hope will make our agency more attractive:

  • We commit to put our agency personnel first, balancing their need to work with their lifestyles
  • We will work hard to provide our people with the opportunities to develop and progress their careers, enhancing their earning power. Agency staff often get the chance to step up and become part of the SCH core team benefiting from full-time employment
  • We will identify people’s strengths and place them in the correct role that maximises their potential and benefits the agency’s clients
  • We are focused on building teams that enable individuals to feel part of a group, all pulling in the same direction

The results have already been positive with a large number of new recruits joining our teams in Southampton and Portsmouth over the past few weeks. But, in keeping with the upcoming cruise season peak and increasing volumes of ro-ro traffic, our demand for new personnel is set to remain high.

The situation will remain the same throughout the summer at all the locations where we operate, with car drivers, reception staff and baggage handlers at the top of our requirements.

We never forget that you have a choice when it comes to agency work. Before you sign on the dotted line, consider the bigger picture. Joining Pathfinder is an investment in your future that will deliver long lasting benefits.
