Pathfinder Personnel Manager Keeley McConnell outlines the opportunities for those wanting to work in a holiday atmosphere

There’s something exciting about being involved in the cruise ship business and when it comes to UK operations Southampton is the place to be.

Our sister company Cruise and Passenger Services (CPS) is at the forefront of cruise ship turnaround activity in the Port and their summer of activity is now in full swing.

Maybe it’s that holiday feeling and the buzz of excitement that goes with it, maybe it’s the anticipation of cruise passengers getting ready to board their ship – whatever the reason the environment of working in the valet parking business of CPS  attracts plenty of people.

However, we’re always on the look-out to build on our database and whether you want a role as a driver or a receptionist the opportunities are there. Besides the bonus of working in the summer sunshine in a holiday atmosphere, the job is also flexible with our agency staff choosing when they want to work.

It’s often hectic work but rewarding with thousands of passengers regularly transiting Southampton’s several cruise terminals in one day as ships complete their busy turnaround schedules.

The cruise industry continues to grow and that’s what makes being involved with this expanding business so exciting.

Many of our agency staff who work for CPS have been with us for several years and are quick to offer friendly help and guidance to those joining the teams.

In return, we look for staff who are polite, enthusiastic and helpful in guiding passengers through the process of handing over their vehicles and trusting us to take care of them while they enjoy their holiday on the high seas.

The operation is busy and demanding but we have formed teams who have helped to make Southampton Europe’s number one cruise port for turnarounds.

We’re now on the look-out for more people to join our cruise operations teams, whether that is valet parking or even moving baggage as part of the operations team led by SCH, another of our sister companies.

We’re already well into another busy cruise season but there are still opportunities. Just contact us if you want to enjoy that feel-good factor of work mixed with a holiday buzz.
