Pathfinder Personnel Agency Manager Charlotte Nancarrow looks ahead to the opportunities for agency staff around the UK this year after a record breaking 2017…..

Pathfinder’s sister company SCH handled record volumes of ro-ro cargo through Southampton last year and we’re expecting 2018 to be equally busy.

That’s great news for the agency which supplies SCH with manpower on a daily basis, supplementing their workforce with drivers and lashers that are an important part of handling the giant ships that transport cars and heavy wheeled plant.

It’s a win-win for our agency personnel who can enjoy the flexibility of picking when they want to work with the knowledge that almost every day there’s a job opportunity that effectively guarantees a regular income.

That also extends to weekends, particularly from the Spring onwards when the cruise ship season gets underway. The opportunities are varied – you can drive cars; move passenger baggage or perhaps use your personal skills for meet and greet/reception activities by joining up with another of our sister companies, Cruise and Passenger Services (CPS).

While SCH and CPS benefit from growing business in Southampton, the Pathfinder portfolio also continues to expand in other parts of the country. If you enjoy working on cruise ships, both Portsmouth and Liverpool will provide plenty of opportunities in 2018.

Portsmouth has more than 40 calls scheduled and our sister company, Southern Maritime Services (SMS), will be handling Saga Cruises ships regularly for the first time, starting at the end of January. That means we’re now on the look-out for new people to supplement our regulars and are currently engaged in a busy schedule of inductions.

Through SCH and CPS, our work in Liverpool also continues to grow. Besides cruise activities, we are planning to expand into other areas that will increase work opportunities further for our agency staff.

In addition, our footprint on the Medway is growing as we service the riverside facilities that constantly require skilled candidates such as fork lift and crane drivers.

Last year saw Pathfinder consolidate its position as a national player in providing people with work in the ports industry. Over the next few months, we’ll be out and about spreading the word that there has never been a better time to sign up with us if you want to make 2018 an even more rewarding year.
