RORO Car Driver – Southampton Docks

Pathfinder are recruiting Car Drivers to assist in the movement of vehicles on and off vessels in Southampton Docks.

No prior professional driving experience necessary, as full assessment, training and on-going supervision will be given.

A full driving licence is required and you should be comfortable driving both manual and automatic vehicles.

You will need to be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of 12 months driving experience in order to comply with our insurance.

Hours are variable due to the changing hours and schedules of the vessels. You may be requested to work day, evening and weekend shifts. A mixture of weekday and weekend work is available, 365 days a year.

Flexible and immediate starts available.

Pay Rates:
Weekdays (daytime)
Basic Hourly Rate = £7.83

Evenings & Weekends
Basic Hourly Rate = £9.30

Successful candidates will be expected to attend a Health & Safety Induction and a car driving assessment. You will be subject to identification checks, referencing and DVLA licence checks.

  • Under the terms of the recently implemented International Ship and Port Facility Code (ISPS), we are obliged to maintain a verified employment/education/DWP history for all members of staff covering the last two years to the date you register with Pathfinder Personnel Ltd. We are subject to regular inspections by the Associated British Ports, the Port Authority to ensure compliance with the Code. If we are unable to provide them with your employment history, we may be prevented from allowing you to work for us until full reference information has been received.
  • You need to provide us with full name and address details for your previous employers covering the last two continuous years prior to joining Pathfinder Personnel Ltd so that we can apply for written references.

  • Step 4 of 9 – Preventing Illegal Working (Right to Work)
  • Sections 15 to 26 of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 came into force on 29 February 2008. Under the 2006 Act, it is a criminal offence to knowingly employ a person aged 16 or over who is subject to immigration control and has no permission to work in the UK; or works for the company in breach of their conditions of stay in the UK. You should also be aware that we will also need to undertake repeat document checks at least once a year if you have limited leave to remain in the UK.

    In line with UKBA guidance on the prevention of illegal working we will need to verify and take a copy of your original ID documentation as evidence of your right to work in the UK if you are to be engaged by Pathfinder Personnel Ltd for temporary work.
