Introduction: Are you an experienced driver? Are you interested in working in conjunction with a prestigious automotive manufacturer? Would you like to develop your skills in cargo handling?
A leading cargo, ship handling and port terminal operator are seeking a number of Car Drivers to support the train loading and unloading of cars at the BMW plant in Cowley, Oxfordshire.
These roles are being offered on a temporary basis with a requirement to be flexible and work across a variety of shift patterns. Day shift operates between 06:45-15:30. Night shift operates between 21:30-06:00 on a two-weekly rotation.
These are exciting positions, providing you to work in conjunction with a prestigious automotive manufacturer, learn new skills and progress into other areas of the operation, including supervision of others.
Working as part of a small team, your specific responsibilities will include:
- Loading and unloading brand new vehicles onto cargo trains
- Driving a variety of vehicles with different operation controls, such as manual/automatic transmission, left/right hand drive and electronic handbrake/start buttons.
- Checking and recording any damage on the vehicles
The ideal candidate will be a confident driver, comfortable working at times in confined spaces and at lower heights. Previous experience handling cargo, loading trains and/or driving would be advantageous, although not essential as full training will be provided.
For insurance purposes you must be 21 years of age minimum, with at least 2 years driving experience.
Any offer of temporary employment will be subject to identification checks, referencing and DVLA driver licence checks.
In return you will be offered a daily hourly rate of £9.00 per hour and night hourly rate of £11.00 per hour.
