Pathfinder Personnel recruitment agency has maintained its membership of the prestigious Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) after successfully completing the organisation’s Compliance Test.
The test was introduced in 2012 to regulate and safeguard standards in recruitment agencies, with members required to pass the test and prove adherence to the REC’s Code of Professional Practice every two years.
It involves demonstrating features such as knowledge of relevant industry legislation, commitment to high ethical standards, respect for employees and transparency. Pathfinder achieved an assessment totaling 97 per cent, against a required pass mark of 75 per cent.
Pathfinder recruitment consultant Keeley McConnell, who led the approval process, explained: “Membership of the REC is an important accreditation for our business because it is the industry’s recognised professional body and a highly respected part of the recruitment sector. Being a member of the REC is a major differentiator for our clients and we are delighted to have secured our membership.”
The REC represents 82 per cent of the UK’s £28.7 billion recruitment industry by revenue and nearly 200 recruitment agencies have been denied REC membership for failing to meet the compliance standards.
REC chief executive Kevin Green said: “Ninety-five per cent of our members passed the compliance test before the December deadline and that’s terrific news. We have lost a few members because they couldn’t satisfy us that they met our high standards, but the upshot is that we now know all of our members are committed to being compliant and to upholding high standards.
“This is great news for clients and candidates who can trust that REC membership means quality and compliance.”
