Pathfinder Personnel Agency Manager Charlotte Nancarrow looks back on a record breaking 2016 and the prospects for next year…
What a year for our port activities around the country! Whether it’s cruise, ro-ro or other ship activity, we’ve been able to provide our agency personnel with a busy flow of work at ports as varied as Southampton, Liverpool, Portsmouth and Sheerness.
Whether you’re one of our army of drivers, lashers, baggage handlers, valet parking specialists or have another specialist skill, we would like to thank you for helping to make 2016 a memorable year for Pathfinder and our sister companies.
Even better news is that 2017 looks set to exceed this year’s requirements for labour with additional ro-ro and cruise ship business on the horizon. Current estimates suggest there will be a 25 per cent increase in the volume of work so availability of our valued agency teams will be in even greater demand. In addition, there will be more opportunity to upskill with training courses on offer that will enable people to enhance their skills and earn more.
The range of work offered by our SCH, SMS and CPS sister companies is also growing, most recently with the establishment of Viper Maritime Services, a dedicated security company that is on the look-out for both existing qualified Security Industry Association personnel, as well as offering the chance for people to train for security work.
As Pathfinder, we’re also focused on improving services to our agency personnel. In particular, we hope more of our people will make use of the daily drop-in sessions that enable them to visit our offices and discuss their work requirements and issues. New computer software will also improve the way we interact with our agency personnel.
The volume of ships running up to the Christmas period and starting again shortly afterwards underlines the demand for people and next year, particularly the cruise ship schedules in Southampton, Liverpool and Portsmouth, promise more of the same.
Once again, thanks to all our Pathfinder Personnel people who have made 2016 such a success and enjoy the festive break before we set off again on another hectic period. And, if you meet someone who wants flexible, interesting work in the port industry, we’d love to hear from them!
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year
